About Me
Carla Santos has 15 years of international scientific career in Molecular Biology R&D. Her research explores the use and development of innovative ways to improve genetic classification and identification. She is currently based at Center of Biological Engineering, University of Minho, where she performs species identification and diversity studies, works that have led to the description of new fungal species and clarification about the mycobiota associated with different food commodities and clinical samples. Her current research interests include the use of massively parallel sequencing for whole genome and metagenomics studies as a way of improving species classification and resolution.
